Welcome to the 2023 CYT EXPO! The EXPO is an annual gathering for CYT students and leadership. This year's event will be held from July 2-5, 2023 in Dallas, TX. CYT Students (ages 12-18), CYT Leadership, and Spectators are all invited to attend! The goal of EXPO is to equip, play, and connect with CYT Branches from across the country! Here you will find all the information you need for this year’s EXPO experience. Read it carefully as you prepare for your trip to Dallas! Please note, we will continue to add information on speakers, workshops, schedules, etc.

APEX 2023

We are excited to announce the 2023 APEX Competition! At EXPO, each APEX dance and voice team will be given an opportunity for individual closed adjudication and feedback from a performing arts professional.  This is a time for rich encouragement and celebration of the talent and work exhibited by the teams, along with constructive and tangible feedback.  Each team will participate in a public showcase of their prepared program.  The teams will be judged on specific criteria during the showcase, and the top 3 scoring teams will perform in the FINAL APEX EXHIBITION.

At EXPO, the APEX improv teams will participate in preliminary competitions showcasing their work as individual and team improvisers.  The scores from all the preliminaries will result in the top 3 teams moving on to compete for the winning title during the FINAL APEX EXHIBITION.

APEX Solo Competition

In addition to our new APEX Team competition, we are excited to announce the 2023 APEX Solo Competition! APEX Solo Comp is an individual solo competition for students 12-18 who are registered for EXPO 2023. Students do not need to be on an APEX team to compete in the Solo Comp, so get your song ready and join the fun!

The Leadership Track is for Executive Directors, Artistic Directors, Managing Directors, Coordinators (Chapters, Shows, Classes, Camps, @school, etc.), Board Members, Teaching Artists, Artistic Team Members, HYPE Advisors, APEX Coaches, and any other critical staff. Check out what you'll be doing at EXPO!

The EXHORT is an experience that concludes EXPO. This Red-Carpet, semi-formal party with plated dinner, desserts, music, dancing, and awards is the CYT party of the year! EXHORT is where all APEX winners will be announced. An EXHORT ticket is $70 for Students, Leaders, Spectators, parents, and outside guests ages 8 and older. 

EXPO Shirt

Don't miss your chance to rock some EXPO gear with your branch and all the other Branches. Shirts are available for presale and can be picked up upon arrival at EXPO at the CYT Store table in the lobby. Don't be the only one not wearing one.

EXPO Special Guest

Nyla Watson is a Broadway actress who has worked on beloved stories such as Wicked, Waitress, and currently touring with Hadestown. Hailing from Cleveland, OH, Nyla Watson is an actress, advocate, and educator. After giving Jesus her life, some of the best decisions she ever made are graduating from Baldwin Wallace University’s Conservatory of Music and pursuing a Masters of Music at New York University - Steinhardt, both degrees in Music Theater. Because her heart is for performing AND coaching, in the Summer of 2020, she launched Queen Studios of Voice and Acting, a progress-driven studio for those committed to being lifelong students and growing in their art.

Meet our Morning Devotional Speaker, Joe McArthur!
My name is Joe McArthur and I currently live on the Texas coast in the windy city of Corpus Christi. Whatever free time I have is spent outdoors, usually fishing, exploring, or cooking a large piece of meat on our wood-smoker while enjoying every minute with my wife and two kiddos. To me, food is a recreational activity (aka, I like to eat) - so, I enjoy any food that doesn’t bite back. I love CYT because it’s a place where kids and youth can belong, create, perform, and discover Christ in a safe place. Not only does CYT impact kids, but it impacts the entire family and community. There’s simply nothing else like CYT, and the world desperately needs more of it. Every city needs a CYT!

Expo is incredible. It makes me realize how blessed I am to be a part of this theater family and it makes me want to bring so many more people from home next year!

Pre-EXPO Group Meeting
This is not required, but we HIGHLY RECOMMEND you meet with your EXPO group prior to boarding the plane or loading the car. This way, together, you can go through all of this information, review rules, plan for certain things, and so on.

What to Pack
Be prepared for the heat! However, the hotel likes to keep the ballrooms pretty chilly, so take a sweater. Don’t forget to cover your skin with sunscreen for that Dallas summer sun!

Please note: Hotel check-in is different than EXPO check-in. Please go to the hotel front desk to check into your rooms. If you arrive before check-in time, the hotel can arrange to hold your baggage for you.

EXPO Check In
Come to the main lobby at the entrance to the conference center on the second floor. There you will see our information table! Come say hello and get your lanyard and EXPO bag. Helpful CYT volunteers will be there to assist you.

Please note: for security reasons, everyone (students, leaders, and spectators) must wear their EXPO lanyards at the conference at all times.

Opportunity Drawing
Want to win some amazing items? Stop by the Opportunity Drawing Table in the main lobby and buy some tickets to be entered into our opportunity drawings. Tickets: $1 for 1, $10 for an arm’s length, and $20 for a body length. Come see what we have this year for you!

EXPO Rules for Students
Branch Leaders may choose to implement additional rules, but we ask that these be recognized by all students at EXPO.
  • 11 pm nightly curfew. For safety reasons and as a courtesy to other hotel guests, we ask that students be in their hotel rooms by 11 pm.
  • No boys and girls in hotel rooms without an adult present.
  • Must follow the EXPO schedule and attend all events. If students are not going to be attending a scheduled EXPO event, they must be with their parent chaperone (there is plenty of free time at this year’s EXPO, so please do not plan your “pool time” during scheduled events).
  • Be respectful of all Hotel guests, abide by all Hotel rules, and refrain from any and all illegal activity. 
We are requiring ALL students and leaders to agree to a CYT EXPO Rules of Engagement upon registration. We ask that leaders and parents/chaperones help implement these standards for the safety and fun of the group. Be sure to review the code of conduct prior to arriving at EXPO.


What’s Provided?
With your Leadership or Student registration comes lunch on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Spectator passes do not include food.

What if I Have Dietary Needs?
The hotel can accommodate vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free dietary needs for lunches provided on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. However, YOU MUST make us aware of your restrictions in your online registration. If you are registering for someone other than yourself, please be sure to mark their food needs. Any dietary needs outside of vegetarian and gluten-free will have to be managed by the attendee (such as food allergies, etc.). For other meals that are not provided by the hotel, food selection will be up to the attendee’s discretion. If you have a SERIOUS allergy to any food of any kind, we advise you make other arrangements altogether.

There will be an offsite Welcome Dinner on Sunday, July 2nd, 2023, at Ferris Wheel Backyard & BBQ.  This is within walking distance of the hotel. A pre-purchased ticket of $24/per person is required for attendance.  These can be purchased on the EXPO registration page. 

All other dinners will be on your own.

Each night designated rooms will be available after the evening gathering for the Branches who would like to meet for a nightly check in. Use this time to hear from one another, pray together, and check in before late-night events/curfew.

Join the EXPO Worship Team!

This year’s worship team will be selected by application and audition video. The Worship Team position is available for students and leaders already attending EXPO 2023. Click the link below for more information and to apply!

Refund Policy

Discounts/coupons must be used at the time of purchase and cannot be added to already purchased tickets. Due to the nature of the CYT EXPO event, all EXPO registrations and purchases are NON-REFUNDABLE.  We highly recommend Branches purchase travel insurance to cover circumstances outside of your control.  If you can no longer attend and wish to transfer your Registration to another attendee who has not yet registered, please email expo@cyt.org within 30 days of the event. If EXPO 2023 is canceled due to circumstances out of our control, registration fees will be refunded within 8-10 weeks of the original event dates.

Participants not staying at Hilton Anatole will be charged an extra fee of $250 per attendee to participate in EXPO events. Participants that live within 50 miles of the event hotel opt to not stay at the event hotel. All hotel bookings should be booked through our event link.
