TRAVEL

What time should we arrive?
Check-in begins on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Groups should plan their travel accordingly to arrive at Jessup University by this time to ensure a smooth check-in and to avoid missing any kickoff activities.

What airport should we fly into?
Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is the recommended airport for EXPO. It is approximately a 25-mile (35-minute) drive from Jessup University in Rocklin, CA. CYT National is coordinating group transportation options from SMF to campus to help Branches arrive together.

Can we arrive after 1:00 PM on Monday?
We strongly encourage all branches to arrive by 1:00 PM on Monday for check-in so no one misses the start of EXPO. If unavoidable travel delays will make your group late, please email expo@cyt.org in advance to let us know your expected arrival time. This way, our team can plan accordingly for a late check-in.

Can we arrive before 1:00 PM on Monday?
Yes. You are welcome to get to campus a bit early on Monday, but dorm access will not be available until the official check-in time at 1:00 PM. Early arrivals may wait in a designated staging area on campus until check-in begins, so plan accordingly if you arrive before 1:00 PM.

Chaperones must complete an application, pass a background check, complete training, and be recommended by their Branch Leadership. Once confirmed, chaperones will receive a registration link.

What does a chaperone do at EXPO?
Chaperones supervise students in dorm pods, attend scheduled events, participate in Tribe Wars, and ensure students follow the Rules of Engagement. They are crucial for student safety and experience.

The EXPO Guest Pass is for parents, younger siblings (age 4+), or guests. It grants access to APEX performances and main sessions.

STUDENT EXPERIENCE

APEX is a CYT-wide competition in Voice, Dance, and Acting. Students can compete as part of their Branch team or submit a solo video. Solo submission deadline is June 1, 2026.

What is Tribe Wars?
Tribe Wars is a fun, team-based challenge where students are grouped with peers from different branches to play games, complete tasks, and build friendships. Each tribe has a name and color. You’ll receive your tribe info before EXPO so you can pack accordingly!

Can I participate in the National Showcase?
Yes! Branches may submit a performance for the National Showcase. It’s a celebration—not a competition—open to all students, even if you’re not on an APEX team.

What workshops are offered?
Workshops include training in singing, acting, and dancing, as well as masterclasses with professionals. Students rotate through sessions based on their preferences and level.

What is the HYPE track?
HYPE students and advisors gather at EXPO for leadership development, collaboration, and fun. It’s a time to learn, inspire, and connect with HYPE teams from across the country.

RULES & SAFETY

What are the Rules of Engagement?
All students, leaders, and attendees must agree to the Rules of Engagement when registering. These include respectful behavior, curfew, appropriate conduct, social media guidelines, and dress code. The full Rules of Engagement can be found on our site.

Is there a curfew?
Yes, all students must be in their assigned pod by 11:00 PM each night.

Are there safety protocols for adult leaders?

What if a student feels unsafe or needs help?
They should immediately contact a chaperone, Branch Leader, or EXPO Staff member. Safety is our top priority. There is also 24/7 campus security via Jessup University Security Team.
